setembro 08, 2016"Do you remember?" is a post about "forgotten" characters in One Piece that it's always worth it to be remembered.
Today we will talk about Alvida. Do you remember? Of course you do, how could you forget of such beauty. If you don't remember, she's actually (in the anime) the first villain that Luffy encounters and by that time she was captain of Alvida Pirates. After that she got to be it of two crews, Alvida and Buggy Pirates.
"Iron Mace" Alvida, in her original shape, was a tall and very obese woman with wavy black hair and had freckles on her cheeks. After eating the Sube Sube no Mi, which is a Devil Fruit that sheds the excess weight of body and if not mistaken use it as weapon, she got a whole new different form.
What I still remember about her is that she used to be very confident and had a real huge self esteem. Before this shape she used to acclaim that she was the most beautiful lady in the sea, the funny part is if someone deny it she would hit them with her iron mace.
When I saw her, after eating the devil fruit, I did not recognize her. I thought I knew her from somewhere, but I never realized that could be ALVIDA!
Besides her personality, everything else was changed.
Somehow she said that she changed herself in order to lose her freckles, which seems a really lame excuse but she didn't want people to know she was conscious of her actual weight or beauty. Her goal was always to achieve the ideal body type and she actually did with the help of Sube Sube no Mi.
She's connected with a character we all know very well, Coby. He got imprisoned by her and forced to be her cabin boy. We can say she was one of the biggest reasons Coby wanted to became a marine, so he could stop and arrest pirates like her.
What I remember about her alliance with Buggy is that they had a common enemy: Luffy. Even though Buggy felt like he was the boss, the real one in charge was Alvida.
She wanted to find Luffy because he done something to her that never happened before, she got defeated by a man.
He met her at her boat, in the same one that Coby was, inside of a barrel where he was sleeping. He was the first one to not show her fear, actually he did not fear her at all... Her iron mace did not scared him and to him she was not pretty at all.
I did like Alvida but I do forgot about her sometimes, I can't wait to see her again and hope that will happen.
